Inchoative

With reference to the definition of inchoative verbs as following,
'denoting an aspect of a verb expressing the beginning of an action, typically one occurring of its own accord.'
It can be possible to have a room for the case of not occuring of iteself, I think.

Typical examples of inchoative verbs are found as you see below,
e.g.The apples ripened.
He has aged a lot.
The car has aged and needs painting.

Then based on my guessing, we could say that so called an ergative verb is inclusive of the inchoative verb.
Is this right thinking?
e.g. The kettle boiled.
So to say, the example above is originally classified as an ergative verb.
But I assume it also to be the inchoative verb.
