In recent years, the appropriate use of national budgets has become a controversial topic. It is believed that countries should allocate more funds to education than other purposes because this factor is the most essential for the development of a nation. From my perspective, I truly agree with the viewpoint and my reasons will be explained in the ensuing paragraphs.

To begin with, investment in the education system can boost the economic growth of a country. It can be explained that the more people have higher qualifications, the more skilled and wealthy workforce would be. In other words, competent workers could help various enterprises increase efficiency and productivity. This leads to improving the profitability of local businesses, and native employees can gain their wages as a result of the evolution. To illustrate, Taiwan’s semiconductor industry has thrived because the government prioritized the establishment of universities and research institutes, which have provided highly-educated and well-employed engineers for the industry.

Furthermore, education brings myriad social benefits. The reason behind this is that well-educated individuals are likely to present proper behaviors in society. In addition, they tend to be more aware of social issues such as environmental problems, gender inequality, and criminal issues. For instance, Singaporeans have a high sense of environmental protection because they were educated well from an early age. This is one of the key factors which makes their country well-known as the cleanest and greenest city in the world. For these reasons, the government should fund more for academic purposes.

To sum up, education should be settled as a priority since it brings enormous socio-economic advantages to countries. Personally, I suppose that governments continue to invest in educational fields to achieve long-term objectives.
