In (year) already?

Hey everybody,

could you tell me what you think about the following two sentences? The placement and use of "already" sounds a bit strange to me, but they're part of somebody else's work, so I'd only want to propose changes if I'm sure something's not correct.

"It was in the 1960s already that a first attempt was made to create..."

"In 1980 already, institution x was founded."

Thanks a lot

Spotty

spottythefearsome The placement and use of "already" sounds a bit strange to me As they stand in isolation, the word seems wrong completely, so I would have to see a broader context before judging.
