In which/where

Hi,

I'm reading a book about economics, and I have a question about the usage of in which and where.

Stock markets, where company shares (stocks) are bought and sold(...)

Reading some rules about the usage, I thought in which would be more appropiate. I guess it's not.

Or is the book wrong?

"where" seems fine to me. In fact I prefer it to "in which" in this case.

AnonymousStock markets, where
"Markets", in the broader sense, are places, so "where" is completely appropriate. "in which" is not wrong, however.
