In which/misplaced clause?

Is this sentence correct:

1-Beckett joined the French Resistance after the 1940 occupation by Germany, in which he worked as a courier.

I think it is incorrect. It seems to me that "in which he worked as a courier" must be places next to "the French Resistance". The sentence gives the impression that he worled as a courier in Germany.

Gratefully,
Navi.
