In which the evidence for ...

Hi

In a review of one of his works (Stevenson's works) the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association stated that he has "painstakingly and unemotionally collected a detailed series of cases in which the evidence for reincarnation is difficult to understand on any other grounds ...

Can you make the last part of that sentence clearer to me because I do not understand what the author wanted to say here?

In the cases that Stevenson has collected, he presents what he considers to be evidence for reincarnation. The AMA says that they have tried to understand that evidence using various models, and no model explains that evidence as well as the model that includes reincarnation. The sentence is poorly written.

The sentence is poorly written. The reader thinks "other than what?"
