In which

I read this in an article.
Is it incorrect to say "in which our liberties..."?

He played an important role in educating the American people to the degree in which our liberties and constitutional rights are being undermined.

Thanks

I would have written "to which our liberties."

Do you perhaps mean 'educate someone about something'?
It sounds odd to 'educate someone to something'.

eg He played an important role in educating the American people about the degree to which our liberties and constitutional rights are being undermined.
