In what tense are these sentences?

Hi everyone,

I get confused when I see multiple verbs in a sentence, in different forms. Because of this, I'm not able to tell 1) what tense a sentence is in, and 2) how many tenses are used in a sentence.

So that I can understand it better, can you folks please break down the verbs/tenses in the sentences below?

  1. It is evident that heating contributes to about two-fifths of the total energy consumed in Australian homes, while only leading to 15% in greenhouse emissions, making it the least detrimental category.
  2. Followed by air conditioning is water heating, consuming up to one-third of the energy and leading to 32% of the hazardous emission.

Thank you!
