In What situations we use ing form after enjoy verb

Hello,

I have learned that after enjoy we should use ing form of verb. Like

  1. I enjoy walking in the moonshine.
  2. I enjoy watching American Idol.

However, we can also have following and those are also correct.

  1. We enjoyed the movie so much.
  2. Did you enjoy yourself last night?

So, my question is about rule like when we should use the enjoy + verb ing form.

Thank you

englishlearner23 So, my question is about rule like when we should use the enjoy + verb ing form. You do that when it's a verb. You could change your second set to use verbs, and then they would have to be gerunds to be objects.
