In vs To?

This question has already been asked before, but I would like to get it clarified!

1) can "he was admitted to the hospital" be recasted as "he was admitted in the hospital"?
In AmE is the underlined article usually omitted?

2) Is "only" at the right place in the following sentence?
"I'm only saying he was admitted to the hospital, but would like to get my doubt clarified" (I actually intend to convey that I don't really use the other sentences). I hope it does not convey that I am the only person saying "he was admitted to the hospital"!

Thanks!
