in versus inside

what is the difference with the sentences:
1. Peter is in the house
2. Peter is inside the house

If I am asked where Peter is, I probably reply, 'He's (at) home'

If, when the other speaker and I are very close indeed to Peter's house, I am asked where he is, I might reply, 'He's in the house' or 'He's indoors' (rather than in the garden).

I probably use 'He's inside the house' only to emphasise that he is not outside: 'Of course you can't see/hea
