So the top priority of any business should be to keep the customer regular so that he doesn't go for some other institution. Yes, you are correct regualr does have a double meaning. But almost every word has so many different meanings. So wouldn't the context exaplain it to the reader in what sense regular or some other word is used?

I couldn't find any definition in M-W Collegiate Dictionary which mentions constipation. On the other hand, Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English does have a definition related to constipation for the entry regular. Why doesn't M-W mention it? I take M-W dictionary as more authoritative than LDOE.

Fear not. You can almost always use the word "regular" in its normal sense without risking raising sniggers. It was just something about that particular combination of words that triggered it for me. I think it's the word "keeping" as much as anything.
