In three (or four, five...)

Hello everyone,

Would someone nourish me with your great knowledge about what 'in three' (or perhaps other versioni with numbers) stands for in the following context as I have no clue what this is (exerpted from bloomberg news)

"March 15 (Bloomberg) -- Japanese 10-year benchmark bonds rose for the first day 'in three' as a slide in the Nikkei 225 Stock Average spurred buying.

Ten-year bond yields have retreated from a four-month high touched March 4, as the Nikkei 225 failed to rise above 12,000. Japanese benchmark 10-year bond yields, which move in the opposite direction to prices, had a correlation of 0.9 with the stock average this year, Bloomberg data show. "

Actually, I posted this message under business section but it seems less active there, so I decided to post here. Someone might have felt déjà vu with this... thanks your attention.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Rgds,

I think it means that for two days (March 13th and 14th) the bond yields were down, but on March 15th, they were up.

Sorry, that should be bond prices were down for two days, but on the third day they were up. This is because bond yields move in the opposite direction to bond prices, but I think you probably already know that.

Hello Stephenj789,

I am just a beginner when it comes to econimics so the reply is very helpful - yes, your explanation certainly makes sense. It can be understood as 'days' is hidden. It is difficult to understand until someone give a clue... it seems like a common sense but not sure among the ordinal level or ecomonic level... Thanks for the help, I appreciated.
