In this situation, how'd you say? (Not to speak to? know by name?)

How would you say in this situation?

1.I know Kevin, but only his name.(I'm not a friend of his or haven't talked with him)

2.I know his face, but I am not his friend and don't know his name and haven't talked with him.

When someone ask, 'do you know Kevin?,' in situation 1, what would you say?

Do you happen to say, 'Yes, I know him by name.'

When someone ask, 'do you know him?,' in situation 2, what would you say?

Do you happend to say, 'Not to speak to?'

Question 1) I assume there's shorter way to express them, don't they?

Question 2) 1. I've heard of Kevin but never met him. (what about this situation: I have seen him quite often but have not talked to)
