Vocabulary

in the war against - correct?

"Thanks to her legendary beauty and kindness, she could even meet meet and negotiate with the French emperor in person in 1807 in order to save Prussia in the war against Napoleon."

I'd like someone to take a look at this long sentence and let me know if it's understandable at all. If so, what parts would need some changes, I am especially interested in the part "in the war against N" - do you say
"in the war against X"?

It is understandable and not overly long per se, but it is a bit clunky. I suggest something like this: With her legendary beauty and kindness, she even met with Napoleon in 1807 in an effort to save Prussia from defeat during its war against the Grande Armée.

I felt that, too... thank you so much. It has now become a lot more understandable. I learned a lot from your comment. Emotion: smile
