In the UK or in UK?

Do we always have to say in the UK? Does it matter if we spell the country name as Uk?

Thank you for the help. So I assume we will always say in 'the' UK and use upper-cases?

Yes. "The UK" is a country. "Uk" sound like what you say when you have something stuck in your throat!

Hee hee! Yes I understand it now. So always 'the UK'. Thank you for the explanation. I certainly do not want to give the impression that I have something stuck in my throat every time I say the name of the country.
