It reports 292 instances of "on the terrace."

Look at the 27 examples of "in the terrace." In many of them, "terrace" is a noun modifier. It does not function as the object of the preposition "in"

e.g.

His ashes are buried in the terrace garden
In the terrace concourse, that mammoth top deck,
have a drink in the terrace bar
or soak in the terrace hot tub under the stars.

In other cases, it is an anomaly - a fluke of the search. "In the terrace" is not a lexical unit.
