It is true that shopping is considered a leisure activity rather than a choir now. While I agree that this trend might be positive to some extent, I believe that the drawbacks of this tendency are greater.

It is understandable why many people advocate shopping as a household duty in the past. For the earlier generations, customers have less money to buying things, except the necessities. The products were as not as diverse as those today, which means the choice on offer was limited. However, it is easy to find anything in the supermarket nowadays due to the high standard of living. People not only go shopping but also enjoy other services such as restaurants and cafes.

On the one hand, shopping might be a positive aspect of mental spiritual life for modern families who are really busy at work. Thus, going shopping at the weekends would be a precious moment for them to spend their time with the children as a way to express the affection

On the other hand, attempting advertisements and the availability of credit cards might be the reasons why many people become shopaholic, especially the young. In my experience, I have seen a lot of youngsters who although having little money, go shopping to satisfy their personal interests. Consequently, they turn into heavy debtors after spending a great deal of money on products that they do not really need.

In conclusion, although shopping would be a benefit for mental life, I believe that it would be better for people if they participate in heathier activities like playing sports instead of enjoying purchasing things
