In the past, lectures were the traditional method of teaching large numbers of students. Nowadays new technology is increasingly being used to teach students. Do the advantages of this new approach outweigh the disadvantages?

These days, there have been several significant changes in the way students being taught. While lectures were recognized as the most popular method in order to teach a great number of students in the previous centuries, modern technology has been being vitally used into education. From my perspective, the merit of this new method might not be able to eclipse its harmful impacts.

On the one hand, the application of technology into education system makes distance no longer geographical. According to several reliable organizations, there are an enormous number of online courses which are available on the Internet. For instance, a grateful source for students preparing for the SAT examination from all nations of the world, Khan Academy particularly, provides the great amount of useful practice lesson for the SAT test. As a result, young people might not be difficult on approaching the lessons of famous lecturers.

On the other hand, every student does not have the exact same financial background. Therefore, applying technology in the process of teaching could not be available for the underprivileged pupils. For instance, youngsters who live in the poverty could not afford several technological devices such as laptops, computers or smartphones. As a consequence, they might not be able to attend to the lessons. In addition, not every undergraduate or graduate prefers the lessons associated with modern technology to the traditional face-to-face lessons, even if they are a part of the digital native generation. Because of not being interested in technology, they suffer from the lack of technological skills, which would challenge them to attend to a lot of lessons applying new technical devices.

In conclusion, the phenomenon of the application of technology in order to improve the teaching method would bring more harmful impacts than its positive benefits.
