In the next month OR In next month?

Hi,

Which of the two is correct?

An example sentence is: "Make sure you restart the campaigns in the beginning of (the) next month?"

Is "the" necessary? It doesn't roll off my tongue naturally...

I would also appreciate a short explanation! Thanks.
