In the kind of

Hi,

What does "in the kind of" mean? Is it "in the type of" or "regarding to"?

We should use a plural noun after "kinds of" and singular for "kind of" (when it has the same meaning as type). Does this rule apply to "in the kind of" too? That is, should we have a singular noun after that always?

Thanks in advance.
