In the dog

Hi,
I´m studying a text book alone and there is an exercise where I´m asked to determine the relationship between two people. One of the notes says: "Dinner in the dog! Waited an hour!!!. Where were you????" I understand somebody is very angry because the other one didn´t show, they may a couple or perhaps friends. But what does exactly this expression mean?
Thanks for you help.

Anonymous But what does exactly this expression mean? It's not an expression. It just states the facts, but in the telegraphic style of personal notes.

(Your) Dinner (is) in (the stomach of) the dog. (I) Waited an hour (for you to come home and eat your dinner). (And since you didn't show up, I fed your dinner to the dog.) Where were you?
