In The Death Of

http://www.nytimes.com/1998/02/23/nyregion/woman-arrested-in-beating-death-of-foster-son.html

"Ms. Brisport's arrest marked the second time in the past year in which a foster parent had been arrested in the death of a foster child.

Shouldn't "in" be "for"? "In" suggests the arrest happened during the death of the child.

Top answer

"for" suggests that the foster parent had actually caused the death of the child. I think the newspaper wanted to give the impression that the foster parent was under suspicion and arrested for questioning. What is written can be thought of as a short form of "arrested in a case involving the death of a foster child".
