In the best interests of the company

We believe that due to recent changes in state laws, the majority vote standard is now in the best interests of the company and its shareholders.

Hi,
Is it right to render the above as "We believe that due to recent changes in our nation's laws, the majority voting system is now most favorable for the company and its shareholders?" Thanks.
