In talks with

Hi Friends,

I am currently in talks with the college to release all my documents.

Can 'in talks with' be used to convey that my objective is for the college to release my documents - and therefore I am engaging them so they'd do so?

Thanks a ton.

anonymous I am currently in talks with the college to release all my documents. It sounds odd. The context is too minor and too private.

Thanks, Mr. M. How do I convey this in one sentence? Is it at least grammatically OK?
