in stock or on stock

Hi, could anyone help me please? Which is correct? in stock or on stock?
I have been using "in stock" all my life, and I have seen it in textbooks I have used. Today, two girls working for a company in the Czech Republic told me they had been using "on stock" regularly in correspondence with their customers and asked me if it was correct. I didn't want to rule out the possibility of "on stock" being also correct and told them I would check and ask first. I have actually seen in one of my dictionaries "on stock" today and I am truly puzzled. I kind of think "on stock" is not correct.

It's the same in the UK.

This question is similar to the difference between "People are walking in the street" and "A seafood restaurant is on the street." I think I would choose "in stock" because the items come and go all the time at a certain store.

The thing is that people from the Czech Republic are not native speakers and they learn English and most of them is still not so good so they make mistakes a lot... another thing is that if something is for sale and "in stock" they naturally use preposition "on" in this meaning so this is why they are used to say "on stock" instead of "in stock".

Son totalmente distintas

el Stock se refiere a la cantidad de mercancía que tiene para soportar la venta diaria

y el In stock se refiere al catalogo de artículos que tiene para la venta

es decir uno contabiliza el total de ítem que debe tener para la venta no detalla descripción y el otro especifica la cantidad de ítem por artículos que debe tener para la venta
