In spite of

Hello,

1.In spite of missing the train, we arrived on time.

Is the above sentence correct?

Here 'missing' does not indicate the person who has missed the train.

2. In spite of our missing the train, we arrived on time.

Which one is more natural between 1 and 2?

Thanks.
