Grammar

in some words i -> ə or ə -> i

For example,
compliment - k?:mpl?ment
But when I heard it from internet dictionary, it sounds like k?:mpl?ment
I feel, in some English words i -> ? or ? -> i

Did I heard them mistakenly? Could you confirm it? If what I felt is right, do I have to follow phonetic alphabets or what she pronounces in audio files of the internet dictionary.

Thank you in advance for your teaching.

The audio files are usually the more reliable guide to pronunciation.
