First of all, most people do research on their family history to have a deeper understanding of their roots and family traditions. When they are on the way of getting to know about their family background, they may find out how their ancestor lived and what their ancestor did. For example, my grandfather often tells about his tough childhood’s story in the war to remind family’s member that how our family close-knit is. Secondly, people who try to carry out on their family’s history may just need the information to meet their requirements. In Viet Nam; for instance, students who register in a military school have to find out their family’s background to prove that they are eligible to study at these universities.
In my opinion, this is a good method of teaching the young about family values. The deeper they know about their family’s history, the more love they feel. If the people know that their ancestor was solder or legend, they are more proud of their family. Moreover, doing research on the roots will be a powerful tool to inform the teenagers about their country’s history because they would like to know more about their ancestor’s life.
