In some cultures, children are often told that they can achieve anything if they try hard enough. What are the advantages and disadvantages of giving children this message?

Good parents endeavor to promote the best possible future for their children. However, I believe the excessive optimism in telling children they can grow up to be anything can be a double-edged sword, leading a child to becoming the next Elon Musk or drowning in conceit and depression.

On the one hand, in the social aspect, giving toddlers a belief that everything is possible to gain is pretty potential, it is like promoting and giving some words of encouragement to provide those kids with a benefical aspect on what are they doing. In fact, these words may help them experience better with a stable, decent and comfortable feelings while doing something. All they ought to do is merely keep in mind that that things is achievable, not too complicated or to simple, it is all about working hard. For instance, Elon Musk used to be working for more than 20 hours a day when he had a start-up, he has never given up despite being called a Failure for a long period of time.

On the other hand, this belief also has an adverse impact on children's thoughts besides the positive ones. First of all, assuming that everything is attainable can cause a conceited feelings in children. One of the major issues associated with this is that they run a higher risk of being self-deluded about what they can do. Another serious problem is that when children can not attain what they want, they tend to have a kind of depression on emotion, they tend to have dark, depressed emotions that lead to self-harm in young children.

To sum up, I think telling children that everything is attainable do have negative and positive impact on their emotion and their thoughts.
