In some countries, young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies.

It is true that in some countries, teenagers are supported to take a job or travel before entering a university after graduating from highschool. While I accept that this trend can sometimes have a positive effect on youngsters, I also believe that it may has some harmful impacts.

It can be clearly seen that teenagers can learn a lot from practical situations rather than what they can study in school. There is saying which goes "Travelling forms a young man." Indeed, young people can broaden view through different languages, cultures and people from all over the world. Also, people who take a job since young age seem to be more mature than others because they have practical experiences in the workforce, which can be helpful for their study in the future.

However, there are also some negative effects when young people take a gap year after finishing highschool. Firstly, it can be costly if they travel at such a young age as they haven't earned much money yet. Secondly, young people may not be respected in some work places and can even be a victim of money scam. And finally, it can be difficult for students who taking a break to go back to study and readapt.

In conclusion, young people should be encourage to learn something new and broaden their knowledge through travelling and working, but they should know the limitation and consider studying as an important duty.
