In recent years, people have a tendency towards leading a more independent life than they used to. I believe that this trend could lead to negative and positive effects in equal measure. There are several reasons why living alone could bring positive consequences. On an individual level, people tend to be more independent and self-reliant whereas the others still depend on their family. For example, if they lived alone, they would have to handle all the bills and manage his or her budget which are valuable life skills. From an economic perspective, this could result in greater demands for housing, giving rise to construction sites. The increase in purchasing services and houses will benefit construction industry. On the other hand, living independently could also be considered from a negative angel. Firstly, although they may gain valuable skills, they may experience loneliness and miss out on emotional support which family and friends provide. They also have to handle the financial burden of house and water bills which is difficult for them to make ends meet. Secondly, the greater demand for housing will only be beneficial to estate agents, the homeowners will have to face continuous rising living costs. In conclusion, the tendency that most people have in modern times could have both benefits and drawbacks.
