In the developed world, many people advocate that people should be encouraged to earn as much money as they can, while others adopt an opposing view that civilians' income should be held in check. In this essay, I will discuss both views of this notion and elaborate on why I agree with the first party.

On the one hand, it is folly to deny the benefits of limiting people’s earnings. A positive outlook on this action is that civilians can avoid many solemn issues such as the division between the rich and the poor, therefore, they will gain more equality in life. Moreover, as the big difference between individuals’ salaries is leading to a competitive life, setting a limit on it will provide people with a lower chance of experiencing burnout in their daily lives.

On the other hand, I would argue that the free upward movements of salaries can significantly contribute to the community. Firstly, it makes people more motivated to earn money. As a result, it will have a positive effect on the fiscal revenue and the local economy. Many billionaires such as Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg, for example, play an important role in the development of a nation’s economy. Secondly, there are many civilians of mixed ability in a country, hence, restricting wages will discourage talented individuals from reaching their full potential.

In the light of these facts, I believe that although the government's control over personal earnings is beneficial, the merits of letting people rise to their full potential is more noticeable.
