In short

Hello,

In short, this is what happened.

Can we also say: in brief, this is what happened. Or, in sum? In some places, I've also seen the phrase in fine. Are these acceptable, and are there other phrases which we can use?

  • Yes.
  • Or, in sum ?
  • I suppose so, although I encounter this so seldom that it seems awkard to me.

In some places, I've also seen the phrase in fine. Yes. Again, rather rare. Sounds rather literary or academic to me.
