Hi. Please help with these. I think both of the example sentences are correct, but do people punctuate the sentences like below like no. 2 more?

1. There was a calm, relaxed, and helpful boy.
2. There was a calm, relaxed, helpful boy.

How about these? Can we have more than 3 clauses for a series like below? Thank you in advance for your help.

Four boys did various assignment pages for their homework. John did page 3, Joe did page 4, Jason did page 5, and Sam did page 7.
