In sentences like this should I use "during' or "in"?

1. Flare was a thirty-eight foot long temperamental blue dragon who was the mount of the Dark Knight hero Steel Brightblade during the Chaos War.

2.Khellendros, also known as Skie, was a mighty blue dragon who first gained renown as the mount of the Dragon Highlord Kitiara Uth Matar during the War of the Lance, and later as a fearsome Dragon Overlord during the Age of Mortals.

3. Lucien was a fierce and cunning half-ogre fighter who was the Dragon Highlord of the Black Dragonarmy during the War of the Lance.
