’In punishment?’

Hi,

When a child is punished in a way which entails that they cannot do something because of it, or they have to do something because of it, like standing in a corner with their face toward the wall, what do you say they are in? How do you express that they are ’’under” punishment?

Please, could you tell me? Thanks.

It's unnecessary for you to mention the "state" that the children is in.

For example, you might say

"He was punished by the teacher."

"He was being punished for not doing homework."

"He will be punished if he does not follow the teacher's instructions."
