In ...percent of cases or in...percent of the cases

Hello,

Should I keep or omit "the" in the sentences below?

- In 75 percent of cases/of the cases, mistake identification was a contributing factor.

- The cheaper drug was prescribed in 49 percent of cases/of the cases.

- In 90 percent of cases/of the cases, the cause of primary ovarian insufficiency is unknown.

The version with "the" sounds better to me (probably because we keep the definite article in my native language) but the other one probably sounds better. Emotion: smile

Thank you.

If you use the detinite article (the cases) it sounds like you have already mentioned the cases. eg There were 10 cases of measles in my school last month. 3 of the cases were serious.
