in order of

Are the 2 natural? Is it natural to say 'in order of least to most'?
1 I've put the books in order of preference.
2 I've put the books in order of [most] favorite to least favorite.

I think 'least favorite' is correct but how come 'most favorite' sounds odd? Is 'most favorite' natural?

Thanks

Some will agree with me, and some will not. However, I prefer to use favorite as a superlative form, without modification. " Your first sentence is fine as it is.

So, I would change your second sentence to "...in order of most favored to least favored." Even better would be "...best/most liked to least liked." Your first sentence is fine as it is.
