In or on a car?

Would you refer to a passenger or driver while driving a car to be ON or IN that car?

A assume passengers are ON a bus or ship or train. Is it different with a car?

Thanks.

You wouldn't refer to anyone being 'on' a car unless they were literally sat or stood upon it. Stick to 'in a car'.
