In or into

Can I say: "Just shut it in a bag" or should I say: "Just shut it into a bag" What's the difference?

Top answer

'Shut' sounds wrong with 'bag' to me. Just put it in/into a bag . 'Into' is the careful grammar (it is a preposition of movement), but 'in' (a preposition of location) is actually more common, I think.
