IN or FOR

Is it possible to say: I haven't seen her in two years? Or is it more correctly to say: I haven't seen her for two years?

Top answer

Welcome, osh! Both expressions are fine. They mean the same and I use both of them with no real preference.

You can use either for or in in the negative, but only for in the affirmative. That is, not
*I have seen her in two years.
