In or during

Hello, teachers!
Would you please tell me which is the correct choice?

1. The company has suffered more than 50 casualties [in, during] combat.
2. He was shot in the arm [in, during] combat.

Thank you very much.
Peace!

Both are fine in both sentences, Jandi. 'In' is more to the point, as that is where injuries and casualties often occur. ' The shooting occurred in the course of another activity.
