in / on a square?

Hello,

I'm not sure, what preposition to use with (public) square.

E.g.:
You can often see fountains in/on the squares of this city.
Let's meet in/on the square near the museum.

Thanks

ac2000 'm not sure, what preposition to use with (public) square. Both sound fine to me. Use either without fear or favour.

I would use "at" instead of "on" in that sentence.
