In / on

I thought it was an official group and only the admin reserved the right to publish official announcements in / on the group.

Is the sentence correct? Which preposition suits best in the sentence?

Thanks.

It seems easier to say it like this: I thought that it was an official group and that only administrators / the administrator could publish announcements there.
