In my opinion

Could you please let me know of the following sentences sound correct. :

It is very difficult to define what literacy exactly is. In my opinion, I became literate the day I became counscious of the world around me, started appreciating human diversity, and ....

Should I use "I believe that" instead of "In my opinion"? Or, is there any better way of putting it?

Thank you.

Thanks! That was helpful.

Since the word "became" is being used twice, is this a better way to put it: " I experienced literacy the day I became conscious..." ? Or should I stick to my original format?

Hi,

Repetition like that is not good style.

How about

eg I became literate the day I first was conscious of the world around me, started appreciating human diversity, and ....
