In my custody.

Hello dear teachers and friends!

This is a sentence made by my teacher:

I can have him released in my custody.

She said by ''in my custody'' she meant '' in my responsiblity''.

Does this sentence make sense at all?

I already checked the word custody in several different dictionaries and I couldn't find it used in a sentence like above.

Thanks very much in advance.

" Yes, it's used that way. For example, a teenager who is caught breaking the law with a minor offense may be released into her parents' custody, but yes, they are responsible for her behavior until she has her trial.
