In many parts of the world, children and teenagers are committing more crimes. What are the causes? How should the young criminal to be punished?

The increasing number of teenagers involved in criminal activity has currently been a cause of concern. This state of affairs can be attributed to several factors, and this essay will suggest some viable solutions to remedy this problem.

There are three main reasons why adolescents turn to crime. Firstly, it can be owned to the disadvantages of their family environment. Teenagers growing up in a violent or low-educated family are more likely to be willful and warlike. Consequently, these characteristics will affect their behavior toward society. Secondly, violent contents on social media also have negative impacts on teenagers. With the development of excessive media, young people have better access to the Internet and may encounter harmful content. For instance, youngsters can imitate how a serial killer carries out a case in a documentary. Moreover, children who commit crimes may grow up in a family where the parents pay more attention to the physical condition than the psychological situation of their child. A majority of Vietnamese people still take psychological problems slightly. Therefore, when parents fail to meet their children’s emotional needs, it is possible for children to feel unloved and take revenge on society.

There are several possible solutions that can be taken to mitigate this problem. The government should impose stricter sentences on juvenile offenders. To be specific, teenagers who commit minor crimes should serve a short sentence prior to retraining for new skills which will ensure them a job when they are back to society. By contrast, those who carried out severe crimes ought to receive harsh punishment such as long sentences regardless of their ages. More importantly, parents must play an active role in educating their children and providing a safe and supportive environment for them since they were babies.

In conclusion, the growth of crimes among teenagers creates negative impacts on society and individuals. Therefore, this issue must be tackled to prevent damage to future generations.
