There is an increasingly popular phenomenon that people have a tendency to pay out for foreign food products than domestic products. This fact happens for some explanations and there should be taken a several solutions to change consumers’ option.
There are a number of factors involved. However, the chief cause would probably stem from the quality of imported food. It is clear that foreign products are usually passed through a high quality checking system, which allows factories to recognise even a modest error so as to ensure that the products stay in the best state. Therefore, people would show a preference for these imported food rather than the local ones. Red meat would perfectly exemplifies this situation. For instance, in Vietnam, the local meat with low price and the meat which imported from Australia or America, even there is a gap in price, the residents would probably choose the latter. Additionally, a further rationale might be due to the fact that the marketing of local food is not really pushed in the right ways while imported products are well-known through a myriad form of advertisements.
It is believes that when dealing with this problem, the easiest way to work it out would be raising the quality of domestic food by adopting a several rules relating to quality checking. Along with that, the government should raise tariff of food imported from foreign countries in order to balance the use of both food products. Moreover, a comprehensive solution to boost demand for food produced locally is to encourage the citizens’ awareness of using food of their own countries by some marketing methods so that in the long run, the local food could gain its’ popularity.
In conclusion, this phenomenon is an upward trend for some justifications and there are a few solutions should be done so as to push the local food sales.
