In Lieu Of "Hit A Lull"

After a busy summer in which North Korea conducted its sixth and largest nuclear test and test-fired a pair of long-range missiles, provocations have hit a lull since mid-September.


In liue of 'have hit a lull', can I say this: ...provocations have been lulled since mid-September.
